New York embraces the art of Raphael with a specially designed exhibit on the passage from the Renaissance to the Baroque: this is the spirit behind the new exhibit in the Big Apple, with the event running at the prestigious Morgan Library & Museum from January 22nd to May 9th.The exhibit, entitled "Rome after Raphael", curated by Christopher Scholz and Inés Elskop, delineates the Eternal City's transformation, and the attendant social changes that took place within the context of demographic diversification, and cultural and artistic renewal.The visit itinerary, characterised by significant works by masters created between the 16th and the 17th centuries, such as Michelangelo, Parmigianino, and Raphael, and featuring the Baroque-style innovations of Annibale Carracci, aims to offer a panoramic view on the period's artistic sensibility, and to illustrate the willingness for change in the attitudes of pontiffs such as Julius II, Leon X and Alessandro Farnese.The exhibit site is the first in New York to present this theme, and is presented thanks to the wealth of documentary material made available for the event: on display is everything from drawings connected to Roman designs, to d...
