Rubbing of the Japanese monk Ennintaken from a stone stele in the Forest of Stelae Shaanxi ProvinicalMuseum Xian. Ennin travelled to China in AD 838 and spent the following nine years travelling through the Middle Kingdom. His diaries are the only known account by a foreigner of Life in Tang China.
